Assessment

A New Approach to Assessment

Our approach to assessment differs slightly from many traditional neuropsychological styles. Our goal is to understand your child’s individual constellation of skills in order to develop recommendations that promote growth. Our founder, Dr. Natalie Noonan, founded the Center for Pediatric Neurodiversity with her unique blend of generalist training in pediatric neuropsychology as well as a sub-specialist training in Autism (early childhood, teen, and early adult diagnosis). She founded CFPN to serve children with a wide range of presenting concerns, while also addressing specific inquiries that require special training related to autistic spectrum disorders.

A Holistic Perspective

It is important for us to understand your child across multiple contexts. We provide the traditional neuropsychological evaluation process assessing domains including:

  • IQ

  • Executive Functioning

  • Memory

  • Visual & Motor Processing

  • Language

  • Social skills

  • Optional Academic Achievement

We also conduct at least one community-based observation to form a more complete picture of your child rather than only seeing them in a new and unfamiliar office setting. Observations are typically conducted at school or other activities your child participates in that may be helpful in our understanding them. Of course, this is optional and only appropriate in some circumstances.

In addition to the observation, we obtain input from other caregivers in your child’s life (e.g., teachers, therapists, coaches, babysitters, etc.) Information gathered from those who are invested in your child’s wellbeing allows us to get a full picture of your child in different settings and people.
