Therapy

Our therapeutic services focus on parent training. Working with parents is a highly effective approach to support children struggling with behavioral concerns, including:

  • Difficulty following directions

  • Feeding concerns (e.g. extremely limited diet, picky eating, challenging mealtime behaviors, etc.)

  • Sleep concerns (e.g. difficulty falling or staying asleep)

  • Aggression (e.g. hitting, kicking, throwing)

  • Emotional regulation (e.g. difficulty calming down from being upset or overreacting)

  • Tantrums

  • Social skills (including peer and sibling relationships)

  • Anxiety

In parent training, we equip parents with the skills and strategies to manage and improve their child's behavior. Through structured sessions, psychologists guide parents in understanding the underlying causes of their child's behavior and implementing strategies for change. This collaborative effort not only helps in modifying the child's behavior but also strengthens the parent-child relationship. Parent training in behavior therapy aims to empower parents to become the primary agents of change, ensuring that the therapeutic interventions are sustainable and effective in the long term.

Depending on the needs of the family, therapists may also meet with children individually. Individual therapy for older children (typically over age 8) focuses on helping them develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills tailored to their unique needs and challenges. Sessions provide a safe space for them to explore their feelings, build self-awareness, and address specific issues like anxiety, depression, or social difficulties. Through a combination of therapeutic techniques and activities, therapy aims to empower children to manage their emotions and improve their overall well-being.
